The Law Office of Nicholas J. Louisa
Firm Philosophy
As the first member of his immediate family to graduate from college, and the first and only member of his family to become an attorney, Attorney Louisa is intimately aware that the legal process can be overwhelming, confusing, and intimidating, especially for someone facing a criminal charge for the first time. When you retain Attorney Louisa, you will have an attorney by your side who will walk you through each step of the process, explain your options, aggressively defend your interests, and make sure you are well informed and comfortable at every stage of the representation.
Attorney Louisa concentrates his practice on the zealous defense of individuals accused of crimes in Massachusetts, standing beside his clients at every stage of their matter, from the earliest moments of an investigation until the final resolution of the case. Since establishing his own practice in September of 2014, Attorney Louisa’s primary motivation has been to provide individuals and small businesses with the same quality and sophistication of legal representation that he previously provided to large corporate clients, while respecting the real costs of legal representation. By remaining small, but strategically partnering with other law firms, experts, and vendors on complex matters, Attorney Louisa is able to provide that representation in a cost-effective manner.
Attorney Louisa’s path to criminal defense began in law school, where he graduated in the top 10% of his class after having the honor of interning for the Honorable William P. Dimitrouleas of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida and with the Major Crimes Section of the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Florida. That early look at how cases are investigated, charged, prosecuted, and adjudicated still shapes how he prepares a defense today.
After law school, Attorney Louisa joined one of the 100 largest law firms in the United States, where he had been a summer associate, as a commercial litigation associate in its New York and Miami offices. There, he handled complex federal and state court litigation for global companies and their officers and directors, including cases involving millions of pages of discovery and millions of dollars at stake. That experience carries directly into his criminal defense work. At a firm where millions of dollars and the reputations of global companies depended on the quality of every action taken, Attorney Louisa learned to hold his work to an exacting standard of preparation and precision, and he brings that same discipline to each client facing the far greater stakes of their liberty and their future.
Attorney Louisa believes that the caliber of advocacy found at large law firms should not be reserved for those with unlimited resources. He structures his practice to deliver that level of representation to every client, whether private or court-appointed, and to do so cost-effectively for those who retain him privately. That same belief is why, for more than a decade, he has represented indigent clients as a CPCS-certified Bar Advocate in the District Courts of Middlesex County. For Attorney Louisa, there is no greater reward than righting an injustice and giving a voice to those who would otherwise go unheard.
